Our mission is to provide equal access to safe, quality housing for our families and elderly residents throughout the community. As a public agency, the Slidell Housing Authority (SHA) plays a major role in providing housing services to the citizens of Slidell.

Through the traditional Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher, commonly called HCV (Section 8) Housing Programs, we currently provide housing or housing assistance to more than 600 families.

The Slidell Housing Authority (SHA) is chartered under the laws of the State of Louisiana to provide and administer affordable housing programs for the citizens of Slidell. The SHA receives policy guidance and operational approval from its 5-member governing Board of Commissioners. Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor of the City of Slidell.

The SHA operates on rents collected from residents and federal subsidy through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
